Daniel Wood
Board Chairman

I currently volunteer as Ambulance Crew for the British Red Cross and have done for nearly three years, during my time with the Red Cross I also served as an event officer level two at many large-scale events.

I am proud to be a founding member of Scotia Medical Group whilst being employed full time as a staff nurse for NHS Grampian.

My aim over the next 3-5 years is to gain as much experience as a staff nurse with the hope of joining Scotland’s Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (North) as a Specialist Retrieval Practitioner.

Along this path I believe that everyone should have the chance to learn and I look forward to passing on my skills and knowledge to volunteers in Scotia Medical Group. It is my ambition that we create a safe and positive learning environment for our team whilst striving to give the best care to our community.

During the past five years I have three top accomplishments:

  1. I was recently one of Sir Iain Mckellen’s personal first aiders as part of his tour. It was a privilege to meet such an inspiring and talented actor.
  2. Graduating as a staff nurse has certainly been an accomplishment of mine, starting as a support worker I was quickly supported to start my training and have not looked back since.
  3. Finally, founding a charity that can give back to its community and enable people to lean vital lifesaving skills has certainly been an accomplishment. It is a new adventure to all the trustee’s but one I am certainly looking forward too.

Over the next few years, I look forward to meeting new volunteers and more of our community whilst growing Scotia Medical Group to become a strong lifeline in the North of Scotland. I look forward to sharing more information with you in the coming weeks as we continue to build our foundations and establish more strong connections.
